About the Competition

Tournament Format
Since the 2023/24 season, Ligue 1 has featured 18 clubs. Each team plays every other club twice — home and away — across 34 matchdays in total. A win is worth three points, a draw one, and a loss none; the final table decides the champion, European qualification spots, and the clubs relegated to Ligue 2.
How to Read the Table
The table lists each club's matches played, wins, draws, losses, goal difference, and total points. Ties in points are broken by goal difference, then goals scored. The bottom clubs at season's end are relegated to Ligue 2, France's second division, while the top finishers qualify for the Champions League, Europa League, or Conference League depending on their final position.
Historical Context
Olympique de Marseille remains the only French club to win the Champions League, lifting the trophy in 1993.
